iPhone SE (2020) gets torn down on video

The new iPhone SE (2020) has been the talk of the town ever since it was unveiled in mid-April, and the most affordable phone in the company's roster is clearly getting a lot of attention sales-wise as well. It makes sense - it's an intriguing mix of the latest chipset paired with a shell that is a few years old, all for a very good price (at least considering this is an iPhone).

We've already seen it undergo a teardown by iFixit, and today it's time for JerryRigEverything's video version, in which you get to see what it's like getting on the inside of the new iPhone SE.

The iPhone SE (2020) does justice to its iPhone 8 doppelganger credentials for the most part. It looks the same on the outside, but it's also very similar on the inside. A lot of components are interchangeable between the two, including the screen (although you aren't getting 3D Touch back if you swap out your SE's panel for one that was meant for an iPhone 8). The battery has a different connector, though, even if it's the exact same size and capacity. Go figure.

There are a ton of different screw sizes and shapes in the iPhone SE, so you'll need at least four different screwdrivers to unscrew all of them. Why? Maybe Apple just likes to keep things interesting for its repair shop workers and those who are DIY-minded.

If you make it to the latter part of the video, you get a bonus teardown of the Taptic Engine linear actuator inside the iPhone SE (2020), exposing its copper coils and magnets.
